Yves Paré, LL.B., M. Fisc.

Yves Paré holds a bachelor of law (LL.B.) as well as a master’s degree in taxation (M.Fisc.) from Université de Sherbrooke. He is a member in good standing of the Quebec Bar Association since 1989.

For the past 20 years now, Me Paré has focused his practice on corporate, commercial and transactional law.

He is a born entrepreneur and, before joining the team of a national firm, Yves Paré devoted the first ten years of his career to general practice, as an independent lawyer working mainly in commercial law and litigation. He represented his clients both before the Court of Quebec and the Superior Court as well as before the Court of Appeal. He thus developed the skills needed to make representations before the courts—skills that we consider essential to efficiently practise corporate, commercial and transactional law.

Me Paré also serves the role of senior advisor in transactions involving the purchase, sale and restructuring of companies, several of which are operated in the form of franchises, mainly in Quebec and occasionally abroad. Moreover, in the past ten years, he has developed specific expertise in this area that he applies to pharmacies.

Furthermore, Me Paré regularly serves as senior advisor to manufacturers seeking to obtain participatory funding from investment funds.

Yves Paré also represents a host of professionals including dentists, audioprosthetists, physicians, veterinarians and architects in the operation of their business and/or incorporation of their practice. He also advises these professionals in terms of governance and occasionally represents them in disciplinary matters.

Me Paré is also called on to advise his clients when it comes to their businesses’ current issues, whether in terms of distribution, franchise or financing contracts, intellectual property or shareholder and partner relations.

Me Paré’s services in a senior advisor capacity are also required—in collaboration with external tax experts, certified professional accountants (CPA, CA), financiers and chartered business valuators (CBVs) to set up inter-vivos trusts, testamentary trusts and protective trusts as well as to implement tax and estate planning and to negotiate and execute shareholder agreements.

In his 30 years of practice, Yves Paré has successfully honed his skills in strategic planning, negotiation and professional team coordination.
