Julie Gagné, LL.B.

Associate

A Bar member since 2004, Me Julie Gagné studied Law at Laval University and obtained her degree in 1996. Whilst co-owning and managing a successful business in the region of Quebec, Me Gagné continued her studies, completing a Business Administration Bachelor’s degree. She then succeeded her professional training and was entered on the Roll of the Order of Advocates in 2004.

At the beginning of her career, Me Gagné mainly concentrated her practice around Corporate and Transactional Law in private businesses in Montreal. She then founded, with her partners, her own law firm on the south shore of Montreal, where she acquired an extensive experience in various legal areas, notably Civil Litigation, Family Law as well as Business Law. Her negotiation skills were put to good use during her practice.

Me Gagné also sat as a member of the Disciplinary committee of the Barreau du Quebec as well as an arbitrator for accounts arbitration. Furthermore, she taught justice fundamental to Techniques juridiques students at Montreal’s Collège Ahuntsic.

Although Me Gagné focuses her practice almost exclusively in Family Law, her versatility and her great experience in various fields also benefit the firm and her clients.

Me Gagné pleads before all Courts of Quebec and her practice covers all aspects of Family Law, including, in particular, separation from bed and board, divorce, disputes between de facto spouses, custody and visiting rights, child support, spousal support, unjust enrichment, compensatory allowance, establishment of patrimony, liquidation of the matrimonial regime, drafting of written aggreements for de facto spouses and pre-marriage counseling .

With her experience in business, Me Gagné can intervene in highly contested cases and in complex cases involving significant financial stakes. This expertise, which is rare among Family Law practitioners, is of great benefit in divorce or separation proceedings, especially when complex financial structures have been put in place such as family businesses, trusts or management companies.
