Member of the Quebec Bar Association from 1969 to April 2013, Maurice Laplante rejoined the Bar in the fall of 2013 to become a member of the Bernier Fournier team in Drummondville.

For close to 44 years, Me Laplante has pleaded especially before the Quebec Court of Appeal, the Superior Court and the Court of Quebec.

He also served as a municipal court judge in Drummondville from 1977 to 1984.

In 1998, he was certified as a civil and commercial mediator as well as a mediator for settling disputes in small claims court.

He has also served as an arbitrator and pleaded in civil and commercial arbitration proceedings.

Me Laplante practises in several fields of law and, especially, in contract or tort liability cases (hidden defects, false representations, defects, medical errors, etc.). He has settled a multitude of cases involving the exercise of movable and immovable real rights (mortgages, securities, bonds, etc.).

He was president of Drummondville’s Optimist Club, president of the municipal land assessment review board, president of Les Pavillons Laforest Inc. (a facility for young offenders), founding member of the Drummondville Olympique, member of the board of directors of the Maison Habitaction and the Club de golf et de curling de Drummondville and, for more than 20 years, member of the board of directors of the Caisse Desjardins de Drummondville.

Going forward, Maurice Laplante intends to collaborate with the Bernier Fournier team and at all times research, identify and recommend the best options for settling litigation or realizing legal projects and agreements.
